3 Ways I Use the M•A•C Soft Ochre Paint Pot

1. Priming my eyes...

Despite having Sahara desert-like dry skin on my face, my eyelids are quite oily which causes a lot of creasing and make my eye makeup look splotchy after a couple hours of wear. I always wear an eye primer to help prolong the wear of my eyeshadows and prevent the creasing. One of my favourite products is the M.A.C. Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. I know a lot of people find the paint pots difficult to work with because they don't blend nicely and are super drying, which also turned me off when I first picked it up. I like to swipe a little bit of the product and warm it up between my two ring fingers before I apply the primer to my eyes - this will make it creamier and easier to blend. Sometimes I'll add in a drop of face oil (I use the Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil - it's very lightweight and doesn't ruin the product) to make it even more manageable and it really smooths onto the eyelids like a dream. I find that my eye shadows apply more pigmented on the lids and they don't budge or crease throughout the day when I use the M.A.C. Paint Pot as a primer.

2. Prolonging the wear of makeup on my nose...

Recently, I was searching on YouTube for effective way to prevent my makeup from rubbing off my nose as I tend to wipe my nose a lot because of my allergies (shout out to Kleenex, where's my sponsorship at? I use you all the time!). I came across a video by Nikkia Joy's that answered my query. The trick is to NOT use face primer (ie. Too Faced HangoverX Replenishing Face Primer, Becca Backlight Priming Filter, etc.) over the nose but, instead, use the M.A.C. Paint Pot. I tried this technique out and I was stunned that after an 9-hour work day there was minimal damage to the makeup on my nose from all my wild wiping! I have tried this technique with a few other eye primers (ie. Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Benefit Air Patrol, Urban Decay Primer Potion Anti-Aging) and none of them provided the longevity in wear the way the MAC Paint Pot does.

3. Preventing smudges on the bridge of my nose from glasses...

After seeing how well my makeup held up on my nose when I used the Paint Pot as a primer, I decided to blend a little along the bridge of my nose where my sunglasses sit. It is so annoying when I take off my sunglasses and find those nasty, cakey indents. The MAC Paint Pot helped to protect the makeup from smudging around that area and there was little to no evidence of where the sunglasses sat at all! I found that it also held my sunglasses in place and prevented them from slipping down my nose as much as it normally would without a primer. Looking forward to lots of sun and funky sunglasses styles with this useful hack!
