Summer 2016 Favourites

Half of the year has gone and I am counting down the days until it's fall. No, I do not like summer and its sweaty assault on my makeup. But that debate is not what this post is about...if you're a sun-loving individual, then all I have to say is make sure you've got your sunscreen on and go enjoy yourself! I mean, I don't hate the sun. We have a perfectly good relationship in the springtime and in fall. It's the heat. I get sweaty, it makes me sluggish, and it aggravates my eczema, but I digress. I have gathered some of my favourite products to share with you in this post. These are the products that I have been using the most this past month.

More product info provided below in the slideshow!

Dermalogica

PreCleanse

I don't know why I was sleeping on this product for so long...well, it's pricey, that's why! I recently picked it up at the Curlique booth at the IMATS Vancouver event earlier this month and I'm so glad I finally took the plunge (the 25% off made the plunge less scary). At the time, I was suffering from some crazy breakouts and I had heard a lot of beauty bloggers rave about the Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse as a great makeup remover that also helped remove excess sebum and declog the pores. It's known as the HERO product at Dermalogica and I truly believe it is. Within two days, I noticed my skin start to clear up! It melts my waterproof makeup off so effortlessly and has a gentle spa fragrance that didn't irritate my skin. I am so worried about running out as it's so expensive, but it will be a product I repurchase in the future.

Avène

Thermal Spring Water

A summer essential! The Avène Thermal Spring Water is so refreshing on a hot day. I use this product after I cleanse my face before I moisturize and it really helps calm any redness or irritation I sometimes get. It's really soothing when my skin is acting up and doesn't irritate my pimples. I also like it to set my makeup and tone down the look of powder on my skin. I highly recommend the Avène facial spray for anyone with sensitive skin!

Boscia

Tsubaki Beauty Oil

I have been using the Boscia Tsubaki Oil since November to help treat my constant dry skin. I press the oil into my skin after my moisturizer before bed, to lock in the hydration, and I wake up in the morning to supple, soft skin. This Japanese beauty oil is an anti-aging botanical blend that is supposed to prevent premature signs of aging and support natural collagen production. This product has a light, pleasing scent and makes me feel like I'm having a glorious spa experience...if you can't tell, I'm dying to get my butt to a spa and indulge.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette

This favourite should come as no surprise as it's been blowing up all over Instagram and YouTube and is probably the eyeshadow palette of the summer! I also own the ABH Artist Palette, Shadow Couture-World Traveler Palette, and Self-Made Palette and I have to say that the Modern Renaissance is my favourite. The shadows are so pigmented, albeit a bit powdery, but they blend so beautifully on the eyes and are so vibrant. As a fan of warm colours, this was the perfect palette for me and it has a perfect blend of warm, bright shades and neutrals. I also enjoy the brushes that come in the ABH palettes as I find that they're very useful in the application and blending of the eyeshadows. The Modern Renaissance palette really is stunning and I'll be using it straight through Fall and Winter.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Lip Gloss - Gilded

Metallic lips are all the rage right now (do people still say "all the rage"?) and this sparkly, antique gold lip gloss is perfect all alone for a ultra-bronze look or as a topper to amp up any look. My favourite way to wear this gloss is to dab it over Mac Crème Cup for a perfect pout that can be worn from day to night. The ABH lip glosses are so pigmented and smell delicious and I can't wait to get my hands on more glosses.

Sephora Collection

Colorful Face Powders, Los Cabos - Contour

I like chips, cheeseburgers, and cola...which has resulted in the daily need to chisel my cheekbones and chin. I have a lot of different contour products, but I find I've reached for the Sephora contour the most this month. It goes on sheerer than the rest of my contour products and I find that I need to in and blend it a few times to build it up to my desired intensity, but it is very blendable. I like that it's not heavy on the first go and I get to work with it. Sometimes I dabble in nose contouring and I find that this product is the perfect shade for slimming down my big nose.

Glossier

Boy Brow - Brown

I first learned about the Glossier Boy Brow in one of Tati's (GlamLifeGuru) YouTube videos and I had to get it. The spoolie is the perfect, small size to precisely distribute the waxy, pomade through my brows without getting any on the skin around them. The Boy Brow really thickens and fluffs up my brows without making them stiff. It has a soft, flexible hold and makes my brows super natural looking. I like to set my brows with the Boy Brow after filling them in with the ABH Brow Wiz, Brow Definer, or Brow Powder Duo. I never leave the house without doing my brows and, if I'm in a rush or it's a natural day, this product is enough to make my brows look full and put together.

Bumble & Bumble

Don't Blow It (H)air Styler

I wash my hair every day and I often don't have time to, nor do I want to, blow dry my hair. On a normal day, before using Don't Blow It, my hair would lay flat and stick straight with no volume or bounce when I let it air dry. Now, as a lazy girl, I'm always looking for a quick fix solution and this Bumble and Bumble hair care product is just that. It is a lightweight cream smells good and helps my hair dry faster whilst providing it with the perfect undone look that has texture and body. The most important aspect for me is that it doesn't leave my hair that gross gritty feeling or weigh it down. This product has fulfilled my messy hair don't care dreams and my hair is now always soft and manageable using Don't Blow It. I will repurchase the full size of this product...at the next Sephora VIB Rouge sale.

XOXO Cassandra
