I recently received my first Lip Monthly bag and I'm so excited to share the goodies I found in the cute, little travel purse. As a lipstick junkie, I was beyond ecstatic when Kelsey from Lip Monthly contacted me and when I finally saw the shiny, gold bag in my mail slot, I couldn't wait to rip into it!

First off...What is Lip Monthly?
Lip Monthly is a subscription service that sends a makeup bag filled with 4 to 5 full-sized products on a monthly basis. Some of the products you might find in the bag might include lip glosses, lip balms, lip sticks, liquid lipsticks...anything lip related...and sometimes a "wild card", like the face and body mask I found in my May Lip Monthly bag. The retail value of the bag is often $40+ and you only pay a fraction of the price per month!
You can also choose the duration of your subscription with Lip Monthly - 1 month, 4 months, or Annual - and they ship worldwide (they are based in Chicago, USA, so shipping to Canada and International will take anywhere from 4-8 days after it's shipped).
Cost of Subscription:
1 Month $12.95 USD
4 Months $38.95 USD
Annual $116.55 USD

So...What did I get in the May Lip Monthly bag?
This month's bag came in a perfect travel-size makeup bag with bright, yellow tulips on it which screams SPRING! FLOWERS! BLOOM! I received 4 full-sized products in my bag, 3 lip products and 1 face mask. The total retail value of my bag in May was $68.95!

Manna Kadar LIPLOCKED Priming Gloss Stain
Manna Babe, $24 USD
This beautiful berry gloss stain is a perfect tone all year round. It has an almost imperceptible pink microglitter running throughout the gloss and really gives a brilliant pink-purple shine to the lips with no tackiness. While the gloss will wear off after a couple hours, this product does leave a deep pink stain on my lips as it claims. It applies smoothly, though I needed to pump the wand a few times to get more product as the doe foot applicator doesn't pick up enough product to fill my lips in one go. This gloss is enriched with Vitamins A and E and contains berry extracts to keep lips nourished, which is amazing for dry lips like mine. Per the instructions on the Manna Kadar website, I used a lip brush to line my lips first with this product to prevent feathering, as it also acts as a primer, however, I still found that the juicy berry stain still bled outside my natural lip lines. I will definitely apply an actual lip primer and use a lip liner before going in with this gloss stain next time.

So Susan JELLO SHOT Rosy Cheek & Lip Gel
Hangover, $24.95 USD

The So Susan gel was my least favourite product in this month's bag. I found it gimmicky and it did not impart this soft pink glow effect that the website claims this Jello Shot will give. It dried too quickly to blend out properly and left neon coral splotches on my cheeks - it is much more effective as a lip stain. And, speaking of stain, be prepared to scrub the sh*t outta your lips or cheeks if you use this...it was hard to remove even with an oil-based makeup remover. The packaging is really cute and it does look like an orange jello shot, however, I don't feel like I will be using this product again. And the cost of this product is bonkers...so glad I got to try this out through an affordable subscription service instead.

Dirty Little Secret Lipstick
Vengeance, $10 USD
I really like this lipstick and it's very similar to the Manna Kadar gloss, though just a touch lighter. It's a beautiful fushcia orchid shade that glides on smoothly on the lips. It's not as opaque as I thought it would be but after applying a couple layers, it gives a fuller coverage. It is comparable to Mac Cremesheen lipsticks (one of my favourite formulas) in finish and in the sheerer pigmentation and it's going to be perfect for summer!

Jor'el Parker The Original FANGO MUD THERAPY
$10 USD

This mask is can be used on the face and body, but I've only used it on my face. I love how easily this mask applies and it's so smooth (compared to the Glam Glow Super Mud Mask which has a lot of grit and texture). It leaves a nice tingle on my face and it didn't irritate my skin, however, I'm so used to mud masks that draw out oil from my pores and when I didn't see those dark oil marks on the mask after it dried, I questioned whether it worked. I will continue to use it cause it did feel like I had a nice facial after I used it.

That's all for the May 2016 Lip Monthly bag! Can't wait to see what products I'll get in June. Don't forget to use my coupon code: CASSANDRA55 to get a discount off your first bag!
